MAINTAINING YOUR OVEN
THE PYROLYSE (FE 5143 RU- FE 5573 RU) :
The FE 5143 RU or FE 5573 RU ovens are equipped with a cleaning system which guarantees cleaning by pyrolyse, destroying
stains at high temperature. The resulting fumes are "purified" by passing over a pyrolyse which starts to function immediately
after cooking. Because of the very high temperatures required by the pyrolyse system, the oven door is fitted with a special safety
lock. When the temperature inside the oven has passed 320°C, it is impossible to open the door.
The Pyrolyse can be stopped at any moment. However, the door cannot be opened until the temperature has dropped below
320°C.
The cooling fan rotates at great speed when the oven reaches these very high temperatures. It continues to rotate, even if the
oven is not operating, as it is directly linked to the temperature.
NB : If a hob has been installed on top of the oven, never use the gas burners or the electric hotplates while the pyrolyse is
working. In this way, the oven control panel will not become excessively hot.
Never use products sold in shops to clean the pyrolytic oven.
Before implementing a Pyrolyse cycle :
- Remove all oven accessories : they cannot withstand the pyrolyse temperatures without being damaged;
- Remove any large spillages or residues, as it would take too long to destroy them.
- Close the oven door,
How to operate the Pyrolyse cycle :
- Turn the selection knob to the left until it indicates "Pyro",
- Set a time on the programmer, according to the degree of staining, with or without a deferred start (see the chapter entitled "The
Programmer" on pages 4 & 5).
- Leave the thermostat knob in the off position.
The cleaning system can be activated at any time of the day or night (you may wish to take advantage of lower electricity tariffs),
thanks to the programmer (see chapter entitled "The Programmer").
It is recommended that cleaning take place immediately after cooking, to take advantage of the heat already in the oven, thereby
saving energy.
OVEN CLEANING TIMES :
* Slight staining : 1h 30 min,
* Medium staining : 1h 45 min,
* Heavy staining : 2h.
(maximum programmable time : 3 hours)
NB : the first time you use the Pyrolyse cleaning system a slight smell may be given off. This is just the "running-in" period of
the automatic cleaning system.
The pyrolyse indicator light comes on when the oven is locked and stays on until the end of the cycle.
At the end of the pyrolyse cleaning cycle, the selector knob should be turned to off and the programmer to the manual position.
The temperature begins to fall and when it drops below 320°C you will have to wait a few seconds before the door can be opened.
The fan will continue to rotate until the oven is cool, even if the programme selector knob is in the off position.
At the end of the cleaning cycle, you may notice some whitish deposits on the oven walls. Wait until the oven has cooled down,
and then wipe the deposits off with a damp sponge.
