MAINTAINING YOUR OVEN
THE CATALYTIC ENAMEL OVEN WALLS (FE 5563 RU) :
The FE 5563 RU oven is fitted with catalytic enamel.
The oven bottom : is fixed by four cross-head screws.
The oven walls : are fixed with a central screw located high up, which can be removed manually and which are held in place by
2 tabs at the bottom. Lift up to remove.
WHAT IS THE CATALYSE?
It is a cleaning system which operates during cooking. The oven walls are covered with a special enamel, catalytic enamel. It has
micro-pores which aid the combustion of grease. Each drop of grease is eliminated by the joint action of the catalytic enamel and
the heat.
Routine maintenance : The accumulation of dust, which is the product of the combustion of the grease, can cause long-term
damage to the enamel.
So, in order to preserve the maximum efficiency of the enamel, after every 15 or 20 cooking sessions, the oven walls must be rinsed
with very hot water.
This minor maintenance work is made much easier by the fact that the oven walls can be completely removed from the oven and
can be cleaned in the kitchen sink.
After rinsing the walls, dry them by running the oven at 280°C for quarter of an hour. If there have been spillages or heavy staining,
the catalytic enamel must be cleaned in order to return it to full efficiency.
Caution : the oven door is extremely hot during operation. Always keep young children at a safe distance from the oven during use.
How to clean the enamel : Wipe the spillage or the stubborn stains with a sponge soaked in very hot water and apply a liquid ammo-
nia-based detergent.
If, after this, some stains still remain, scrub them with a nylon brush.
Then, heat up the oven for about an hour at 280°C.
It is sometimes necessary to carry out this operation several times if the stains are very stubborn.
N.B. : If after normal cooking you notice some slightly darker-coloured marks on the oven walls, do not worry. This is normal ; there
are simply grease splashes which are in the process of being removed.
NEVER USE THE FOLLOWING :
- metallic sponges,
- abrasive products, which cause scratching,
- sharp implements which cause permanent damage to the enamel.
