Installation
Several optional modules are available to upgrade the performance of
your SmartRAID VI controller:
•
RA4060 RAID Accelerator – adds hardware XOR and cache
memory capacity to the controller.
• SX4065 Bus Expansion Module – adds one or two SCSI channels
to a SmartRAID VI controller or one FC-AL connection.
• DM4060-16 (-64) ECC DIMM – adds 16 or 64 MB of EDO cache
memory (per module) to an RA4060 module.
• DM4070 SDRAM ECC DIMM - adds 32 or 64 MB of high speed
disk cache (per module) for a SmartRAID VI Century controller.
Installing the RA4060 RAID Accelerator
Adding an RA4060 module to a controller provides up to 128MB of cache
and hardware XOR operation for RAID-5. The RA4060 module is only
for use on PM1564U3 controllers.
NOTE
DPT recommends that PM1564U3 controllers with an RA4060
module have at least 16MB of cache installed.

Adapter Configuration and Installation
Install the DIMMs in the DIMM sockets of the module. Refer to
"Installing Memory Modules" in this chapter.
Attach the RA4060 module to the controller as shown in the
diagram below. The connectors should lock into place. To remove
the module, pull the RA4060 upward with equal force on both
edges of card to separate the module from the controller.
To confirm that the RA4060 and DIMMs have been properly
installed, start SMOR and select the controller. The Information
window should indicate the RA4060 is attached and display the
amount of cache memory.
