RA4060 RAID Accelerator Features
The RA4060 RAID Accelerator module adds up to 128MB of cache and
hardware XOR capability to a PM1564 controller. The hardware XOR
can provide significant performance improvement for RAID 5 and 0+5
arrays. The additional RA4060 cache can provide a performance
improvement in systems with heavy disk I/O load, such as CAD
workstations, and in network servers running operating systems such as
Windows NT, Novell NetWare or UNIX.
The RA4060 connects to the end of the controller and does not require
an additional slot in the host system.
NOTE
Installed DIMMs must be the same type and capacity and they
must support symmetric addressing.
The two DIMM sockets on the RA4060 accept up to 128MB of cache.
DIMMs to be installed in RA4060 modules must be 60ns (or faster) EDO
SO-DIMMs. Capacities can be 4MB, 16MB, or 64MB.
For maximum data protection use the DPT ECC DIMMs listed below:
The data cache is protected by ECC only when DPT DM4060 memory
modules are installed. The green ECC Enabled LED is lit when DPT
memory is installed. Refer to Appendix A, "Assembly Drawings" for the
location of this LED.
DM4060 Cache Module
DM4060 ECC EDO DIMMs provide 16MB (DM4060-16) or 32MB
(DM4060-32) of disk cache when used with the RA4060 RAID
Accelerator for Decade controllers. The green ECC Enabled LED is lit
when DPT memory is installed. Refer to Appendix A, "Assembly
Drawings" for the location of this LED.
DM4070 Cache Module
DM4070 ECC SDRAM DIMMs provide 32MB (DM4070-32) or 64MB
(DM4070-64) of high-speed disk cache for Century controllers. The
green ECC Enabled LED is lit when DPT memory is installed. Refer to
Appendix A, "Assembly Drawings" for the location of this LED.
