Turn the paper tray to the original
position, and remove the friction
pad from the tray.

Insert the new friction pad in the
paper tray. When inserting, note
the following:
A The three triangular projec-
tions should be facing toward
the front of the tray as shown
in the illustration.
B Align the center projection of
the new friction pad to the
spring of the paper tray.
C Also, align the projections of
both sides of the friction pad to
the holes of the paper tray as
shown in the illustration.

Push the friction pad until it locks
securely.
Important
Confirm that the friction pad is
set correctly, gently push it a
few times. If the friction pad re-
bounds with the force of the
spring, the pad has been set cor-
rectly.

Leave the paper tray pulled out
and go to P.109 "Replacing the pa-
per feed roller".

R CAUTION:
• When lifting the printer, use the
inset grips on both sides of the
printer, otherwise the printer
might fall and cause personal in-
jury.

Move the printer to the edge of a
sturdy and stable table or desk.
Important
Do not put the printer on an un-
stable or tilted surface.
Note

If the printer is equipped with
the optional paper feed unit, do
not move the printer and the
unit together as they are not se-
curely attached.
