Chapter 1
- If this symptom occurred on multiple Process Units, remedy this issue one unit at a time. This is to prevent the deterioration of Photosensitive Drums.
- To prevent the deterioration of Photosensitive Drums and image failures from this, work at a darkened location as much as possible.
Fusing is likely to occur on both ends of the drum and it is recommended to clean by using the lightproof sheet to cover the non-cleaning side.
Avoid exposing the same location to light for more than 3 minutes under the standard indoor white lighting (it is desirable to limit to approx. 1 minute).
- Clean toner on the drum by lint-free paper and then perform cleaning.
- Use lint-free paper well moistened with ethanol when cleaning.
- Do not clean other locations before the drum becomes dry when cleaning.
- Always replace lint-free paper after one use.
[Cleaning Procedure for the Drum of Process Unit (Y)/(M)/(C)]
1) Turn OFF the main power switch.
2) Remove the Process Unit for relevant color and separate it from the Developing Assembly Unit.
[Caution]
Place the separated Process Unit on sheets of copying paper and then protect it from light by covering it with the drum protection sheet or wrapping it with sheets
of paper (about 5 sheets).
3) Use lint-free paper (NOT moistened by ethanol) to clean toner on the drum in the same direction as the drum rotation direction.
[Caution]
If the drum is cleaned in a horizontal direction to the rotation direction, scratches on the drum may occur.
4) Use lint-free paper (moistened by ethanol) to clean toner on the drum in the same direction as the drum rotation direction and then dry wipe the cleaned location
with lint-free paper (NOT moistened by ethanol).
