Data backups
The system supports local area network interconnections that may be used to back up
or to archive process data. The designated location for the backup, either removable
media or servers, must be secure and protect the cyber security of the backup data.
The cyber security of data stored at an external storage location is outside the scope of
this Appendix. GE recommends that the customer establishes procedures to protect the
data backups of the external archive. If an external archive is used, the customer should
establish backup procedures for this archive. Business contingency planning for exter-
nally stored data is outside the scope of this Appendix.
Cyber security vulnerability
GE works closely with the third party software suppliers to monitor and evaluate cyber
security vulnerabilities applicable to this product. This work includes vulnerabilities in
the application software, third party components, and the underlying operating system.
Vulnerabilities in the operating system or in other third party components are assessed
based on the specific system configurations that have been delivered to the customers.
GE regularly releases security updates or patches, that are made available to the cus-
tomers by the GE service organization, based on the customer system configuration.
