Network connections
When network connections are required, GE strongly recommends that the system is
operated using a secure network that is protected from unauthorized access. The cus-
tomer should use an effective arrangement for isolating and protecting the network, for
example implementing firewall protection, demilitarized zones (DMZs), virtual Local Area
Networks (VLANs) and network enclaves.
Connection of the product to a network that includes other equipment may expose the
product to other unidentified cyber security risks. The responsible parties in the customer
organization should identify, analyze, evaluate, and control these risks regularly. The
following changes (and other changes that may not be listed below) to the network may
introduce new risks and therefore require additional analysis:

Default application users and passwords should be replaced with customized unique
users and passwords.
Users and passwords should be actively managed to maintain appropriate authority
levels. Obsolete user accounts should be deleted.
Only external USB storage devices that are cyber secure should be used.
Use of internet or e-mail clients should be prohibited.
Installation of any new software should be prohibited.
Displays and screens should be placed so that the screen content is visible only to
the current user.
Changes in network configuration.
Connection of additional items to the network.
Disconnection of items from the network.
Updates to the connected equipment.
Upgrades of connected equipment.
