Preparing the Installation
Lightning and Surge Protection
In order to avoid damage to MOBOTIX cameras from overvoltages, you should always install
the MX-Overvoltage-Protection-Box. This competitively priced and weatherproof network
connector provides reliable protection against overvoltages of up to 4 kV; the box is easily
installed in the Outdoor Wall Mount, for example (see Section 1.5.14, «MX-Overvoltage-
Protection-Box»).
More information is available at an institution such as the International Electrotechnical
Commission (IEC, www.iec.ch) or at a manufacturer of protection devices against lightning
and electrical surges, such as Dehn (www.dehn.de).
