3-9 RIGID SHEAR SHANK AND SHOVEL INSTALLATION

3-9.1 Attach each shank assembly to each
clamp assembly using 3/4-10 x 4 hex head
cap screws and hex lock nuts in the top hole
and 5/8-11 x 5 hex head cap screw and hex
lock nut in the lower hole (See Figure 3-).
IMPORTANT
5/8 X 3/4 X 1-1/4 CONNEX BUSHINGS SHOWN
IN THE DRAWING ARE INSTALLED AT THE
LANDOLL CORPORATION.
3-9.2 Install 2 x 1 x 18 spikes or 1/2 x 4 x 26
twisted shovels onto shanks as follows:
a. Connect 2 x 1 x 18 spike to each shank us-
ing 1/2-13 x 3 hex head cap screws, flat
washer (in bottom hole only), split lock wash-
ers, and hex nuts (See Figure 3-7).
b. Connect 1/2 x 4 x 26 twisted shovels to
each shank using 1/2-13 x 3 plow bolts, flat
washer (in bottom hole only), split lock wash-
ers, and hex nuts. See Figures 2-1 - 2-14
for recommended locations of right hand
and left hand shovels.
IMPORTANT
RIGHT AND LEFT TWISTED SHOVELS ARE
DETERMINED BY DIRECTION OF DIRT FLOW
WHEN FACING THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL.
