Battery used: Lithium Type AA- LS 14500- 3.6V-2400 mAh- SAFT
Battery state display
In the case of the AMSABS, a weak battery state is indicated by the operating condition
LED and where necessary on the machine controller.
Operation
The electronics housing of the sensor unit contains an accumulator and a buffer battery
that ensure system functionality even if the machine is switched off. Short periods of
up to 4 weeks are covered by the accumulator without affecting the battery's functional
life. This means that in the case of typical usage where the machine is regularly
in operation, the buffer battery guarantees functionality of the sensor unit for many
years. Schneeberger recommends in this case that the battery is replaced proactively
every 5 years.
In the event that the external power system is switched off for an extended period, the
position measurement of the system is retained for approx 1.5 years, although regular
movement of the read head shortens this period. If the machine or measuring system
is shut down, it is recommended that the activation strip and its underlying magnet are
inserted back into the electronics housing (see „5.7 Preparing the measuring system
for installation" on page 16). This will disconnect the power supply to the sensor
unit and prevent the battery from being drained. It will however be necessary to reset
the absolute position upon reactivation (see „5.7 Preparing the measuring system for
installation" on page 16).
1.
Unscrew the battery compartment at the rear of the electronics housing.
2.
Remove the old battery.
3.
Insert the new battery, ensuring that it is the right way around.
4.
Check that the O-ring is correctly located in the groove and ensure that O-ring,
groove and supporting surface for the lid are clean.
5.
Replace the lid on the battery compartment and fasten with screws (tightening
torque 0.3 Nm).
6.
Dispose of old battery properly in accordance with nationally applicable regulations.
