Dismantling AMS 3B and 4B and AMSABS 3B and 4B read heads
1.
Turn off the main switch and ensure that it cannot be turned back on.
2.
Dismount protective covers if required.
3.
Ensure the proper positioning of the out-of-service axis.
4.
Unplug the read head connecting cable.
5.
Loosen the fastening screws of the separate electronics housing.
6.
Loosen the fastening screws fixing the read head to the housing.
a) Remove the cover plate (only in the case of AMSABS).
b) Slide the read head laterally in its mounting groove until it is radially freely
mobile (only in the case of AMSABS).
7.
Carefully remove the read head from the housing at a right angle to the installation
surface.
8.
Make a record of the fault and serial number and package the read head.
Read head installation
1.
Check the read head installation surface on the housing for contaminants.
2.
Clean the magnetic measuring scale.
3.
Carefully unpack the new read head.
4.
Clean the sensor slider of the read head if required.
5.
In the case of AMSABS, activate the battery (see „9.5 Battery AMSABS" on page 61).
6.
Carefully insert the read head into the recess in the housing at a right angle to the
installation surface, ensuring that it is positioned flat.
7.
In the case of AMSABS, slide the read head parallel to the guide rail until it reaches
its screwing-in point:
The measuring system will automatically identify its absolute position during installation.
The measuring system is ready to operate immediately following installation.
Once the controller is switched on, the LED will light up green.
8.
Tighten the fastening screws at the housing
(tightening torque 1.1 Nm).
9.
Lay the cable and secure the separate electronics housing. For this, follow the
guidelines in section „7.5 Laying the electronics housing and cables" on page 52.
10. Plug in the connecting cable plug and tighten the union nut by hand.
11. Switch the power supply back on.
12. In the case of AMS with operating state display, ensure that the LED lights up green.
13. Check the machine zero point and recalibrate if required: Execute a reference
move on the drive controller.
ATTENTION!
Risk of material damage posed by collision!
Failure to inspect and adjust (where necessary) the machine zero
point can result in the collision of machine components with other
components.
• Calibrate the zero point following every read head installation.
NOTE: Positional recognition of equidistant reference marks can vary by ± 0.5 mm
between different read heads.
