13. TRANSPORTATION
13.4
METHOD
OF LIFTING CHASSIS
(machines
equipped
with lifting hook)
Lifting of the chassis is possible
only for machines
which
have
a lifting position
mark (see the diagram
on the right) on the boom
and counterweight.
A
WARNING
l
Never
raise the machine
with
any worker
on it.
l
Always
make
sure that
the wire
rope
used for lifting
the
machine
is of ample strength
for the weight
of the machine.
l
Never try to lift the machine
in any posture
other than the
posture
given in the procedure
below.
There is danger
that the machine
may lose its balance.
When
lifting the chassis, carry out operation
as follow
on level
ground.

Start the engine
and set the work
equipment
to the posture
shown in the diagram
on the right. (Boom fully raised/arm
and
bucket pulled in fully)
Face the upper structure
straight
to the front. (Idler end)
Set the safety lock lever to the LOCK position.
Stop
the engine,
check that
the
area
around
the
operator's
compartment
is safe, then get off the machine.
Close the cab
door, front glass, let? and right doors, and engine hood securely.
Install
shackles
to the lifting
hooks on top of the boom
and
counterweight,
and fit wire rope.
Select wire rope so that lifting position
P is directly
above the
center of gravity of the machine
(400 mm to the rear of the swing
center)
as shown
in the diagram
on the right.
When
lifting the machine,
check that there is no change
in the
posture
caused
by leakage
of oil in the circuit
at the boom
cylinder
head.
When
the machine
comes
off the ground,
stop and check the
balance
of the
machine
carefully,
and when
the
machine
is
stable,
lift it slowly.
