Paper Handling This chapter explains the specifications of paper that can be used with the machine, cautionary points when loading paper, and how to load paper in each paper source. Available Paper Size and Type .......................... 7-2 Basic Paper Specifications ........................7-2 Choosing the Appropriate Paper ......................
Paper Handling > Available Paper Size and Type Available Paper Size and Type This section explains the paper sizes and types that can be used in the paper source. Basic Paper Specifications The machine is designed to print without problem on any paper that is registered in Paper Catalog, and it can also print on a variety of other types of paper if the paper is within the limit ranges indicated in this chapter.
Paper Handling > Available Paper Size and Type Choosing the Appropriate Paper This section describes guidelines for choosing paper. Condition Avoid using paper with bent corners or that is curled, dirty, or torn. Do not use paper that has a rough surface or paper fiber lint, or that is especially delicate.
Page 187
Paper Handling > Available Paper Size and Type Moisture absorption The moisture absorption of paper affects the rigidity of paper and color expression. If high-density printing is performed on paper with a low moisture content or plain paper, curling may occur, and when ejected from the right tray, may push away other paper, fail to stack, or jam.

Paper Handling > Available Paper Size and Type IMPORTANT If the width of the paper is A3 (297 mm) or more, the front side of the paper as seen from the machine has a hole, tear, or other defect, and part of the image will print on that defect, ink may remain and soil subsequent sheets of paper.
Paper Handling > Precautions on Paper Precautions on Paper Precautions when Loading Paper Before loading paper that you have taken out of its packaging, follow the steps below to fan the paper and align the edges. CAUTION Printing on paper with unaligned edges may cause a paper jam that damages the print head. If an error code (Cxxx) appears on the operation panel, contact your service technician.
Page 192
Paper Handling > Precautions on Paper Shift the other end side face of the paper bundle. Flip the paper. Adjust the end face. CAUTION • Except for preprinted paper, do not reuse paper that has already been printed on. Using paper with marks or other traces of staples or clips may cause image defects and damage the print head.
Paper Handling > Precautions on Paper Precautions when Storing Paper Since the paper is made of dietary fiber, it is sensitive to moisture and humidity. Therefore, if the environmental conditions of the warehouse and the printing location are different, it is necessary to transport the paper to the printing place beforehand and to familiarize it to the temperature.
Page 194
Paper Handling > Precautions on Paper General specifications and guidelines on paper storage are as follows. Environment of paper Recommended value storage room Temperature 68 to 78.8 °F (20 to 26 °C) Please stabilize the temperature as much as possible. Relative humidity 30 to 60% Please stabilize the relative humidity as much as possible.
