Modulation- and expression-controls

As described in the previous chapters, the '14  Analogsynthesizer offers several possibilities to
automatically modulate the oscillators' pitches or the filter's cutoff frequency. First and foremost,
both envelope generators EG 1 and EG 2, the LFO and the vibrato-generator.
The wheels, velocity and aftertouch of the keyboard are additional modulation sources to individually
shape the sound, allowing you to shape each note expressively.
The modulation parameters are directly accessible via controls and switches on the
'14  Analogsynthesizer's left side
accessible through the programmer

Envelope generators

The '14 Analogsynthesizer offers two envelope generators EG 1 and EG 2. While EG 2 always controls
the VCA, EG 1 is capable of modulating several targets simultaneously:
-
the pitches of VCO 1 and VCO 2 independently
-
the filter's cutoff frequency
-
the modulation amount of VCO 1's sine wave towards the filter's cutoff frequency
Both envelope generators offer an identical functional range with one exception. Therefore, we will
describe identical control elements and functions of EG 1 and EG 2 commonly.
EG 1 and EG 2 generate voltage progressions which can be adjusted in duration and shape using the
parameters ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN and RELEASE.
The envelope generators are started by pressing a key on the keyboard.
ATTACK sets the envelope's rise time from zero to maximum level.
DECAY sets the envelope's decay time from its maximum level to the hold-level being set with the
SUSTAIN control. For the duration of the key being pressed, the sustain level is being held.
RELEASE sets the envelope's release time towards zero level once the keyboard has been released.
