700 Series
Note: The following operation applies to earlier engines only.
5 Release the lock nut of the maximum fuel adjustment and rotate the adjustment screw clockwise until finger
tight. Hold the adjustment screw with a screwdriver and tighten the lock nut. The maximum fuel adjustment is
now set (E).
6 Fit the cap nut to the adjustment screw. The latest engines have a tamper proof cap, see Operation 6-1.
Check and if necessary adjust the maximum and idle speed adjustments (F).

7 Remove the setting plate. Carefully rotate the adjustment knob clockwise approximately

turn to release

the tension on the control link. Disconnect the spring and the adjustment rod from the peg. Remove the tool
from the housing.
8 Remove clamp from the timing case.
9 Apply Liquid gasket to the side faces of a new "D" plug and fit the "D" plug.
10 Ensure that the flange face of the fuel pump housing is clean and fit the shim (G1) for the fuel injection
pump.
