VPN

4.3.1

Overview

A VPN is a virtual private network set up over a public network (usually the internet).
This modem router can function as two kinds of VPN clients: PPTP or L2TP client. The following
section describes how to configure the router as a PPTP/L2TP client. If you set up a PPTP/L2TP
server, you can enable PPTP/L2TP client function to help you visit the PPTP/L2TP server.

Configuring modem router as a L2TP client

Step 1
Choose Advanced Setup > VPN > L2TP Client to enter the configuration page, and click
Add.
Step 2
Set Tunnel Name and L2TP Server(IP address/domain name) based on the information set
on the L2TP server, and select an Associated WAN Interface, and click Next.
Parameter
Description
Tunnel Name
It specifies the name of the L2TP connection to be set up.
L2TP Server(IP
It specifies the IP address or domain name of the L2TP VPN server to be connected.

Generally, it refers to the IP address or domain name of the WAN port of the peer VPN
