VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT

Adjustment steps:
9 Loosen the locknut 1.
9 Turn the adjuster 2 in or out to obtain
the proper clearance.
9 Loosen the locknut 1 and insert the 0.1
mm (0.004 in) thickness gauge between
the rocker arm and the valve tip.
9 Using the tappet adjusting tool 3 turn
in or out the adjuster 2 to obtain the
proper valve clearance. Move the thick-
ness gauge up and down to check for
the proper resistance.

9 Tighten the locknut 1.
6. Install:
9 Cylinder air shroud
9 Cylinder head cover gasket
9 Cylinder head cover
9 Clip
9 Breather hose
9 Spark plug
9 Spark plug cap
7. Install:
9 Rear cover 2
9 Fuel tank cap
9 Side cover left/right
9 Rear cover 1
Refer to "COVERS AND FUEL TANK".

Locknut:
7 Nm (0.7 m · kgf, 5.2 ft · lbf)
Cylinder head cover bolt:
11 Nm (1.1 m · kgf, 8.1 ft · lbf)
Spark plug:
20 Nm (2.0 m · kgf, 14.8 ft · lbf)
