COMPRESSION PRESSURE
TIP
Measure the compression after checking and
adjusting the valve clearance.
1. Warm up the engine for several minutes.
2. Remove:
9 Rear cover 1
3. Remove:
9 Spark plug cap
9 Spark plug
4. Connect:

9 Compression gauge 1

5. Measure:
9 Compression
WARNING
To prevent sparking when cranking the
engine, ground the high tension cord.

Adapter:

To measure the compression, pull the
recoil starter until the needle stops ris-
ing on the compression gauge.

Standard compression pressure:

Auto decompression deactivated
800 – 950 kPa (8.0 – 9.5 kg/cm
116 – 137.75 psi) at 1100 r/min
Auto decompression activated
400 – 500 kPa (4.0 – 5.0 kg/cm
58 – 72.5 psi) at 600 r/min
