9. Troubleshooting Issues

The M8 sensor is designed for excellent reliability and longevity. However, if the sensor is
prevented from integrating, connecting, spinning up, firing, or collecting data, your
support representative is committed to fully support you in resolving it.
For purchases made directly from Quanergy, contact support@quanergy.com.
For purchases made from a third party such as a value-added reseller or system
integrator, contact them for support.

Check the Status

If you suspect your sensor may have an issue, check the sensor's health through the web
server's Status tab (page 54) or Q-View diagnostics panel (discussed in the Q-View User Guide
at https://quanergy.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/2717074). Statuses and error codes
are explained in Table 11.

Table 11. Web Server: M8 Software Status Definitions

Status
Value
True (locked)
GPS Lock
False (unlocked) Indicates that any or all of the above criteria have not been met.
NOTE:
Numerical value Reports the sensor's precise rotational speed in hertz.
Frame Rate (Hz)
Numerical value Reports the sensor's precise internal temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Sensor Temperature
3
10 milliseconds is long enough to maintain a valid pulse while filtering out spikes on the PPS line. If necessary, adjust the pulse
width on the GPS receiver using the manufacturer's online tool.
Meaning
Indicates that all of the following criteria are met:
• Sensor is attached to the NMEA/PPS inputs.
• PPS pulse width is at least 10 milliseconds.
• Internal clock is successfully trained to the GPS external reference input
(satellite).
• Internal timebase is properly adjusted to GPS time so that the PPS input
always arrives within 4 µs of the internally expected time.
As the system is adapting the sensor's internal timebase to the GPS reference,
it will likely see the PPS indication at the wrong expected time and declare the
system "unlocked." If the sensor is operated prior to attaining a GPS lock, GPS
timestamps embedded in the point cloud data stream may jump by large
increments.
