Intensity

Quanergy supports 8-bit intensity for the M8 sensor Rev D5 and up. Intensity is measured
on a logarithmic scale related to the reflectivity of a target although other characteristics can
affect the value. For visualization, the reported decibel value is assigned a color, which is
defined by the user. While computer postprocessing can tease out additional information
that is only hinted at in the RViz visualizer, the M8 sensor Rev D5 in Figure 6 clearly shows
the distinction in intensity:
• Green points are returns from materials with low reflectivity.
• Blue points are returns from materials with high reflectivity.
