Reset a Static IP Address

A special fail safe mode allows you to reset the IP address and subnet of a sensor in the
following circumstances:
• The sensor was previously assigned a STATIC IP address (page 51).
• The sensor's STATIC IP address is currently unknown.
• The sensor's subnet is currently unknown.
NOTE: Fail safe mode works only for a sensor that has had a
static IP address assigned to it manually. It does not work if the
sensor's IP address was assigned dynamically via DHCP server.
Reset the sensor's IP address through the fail safe mode, as follows:
1. Make sure the sensor is plugged directly into a computer (any platform) that allows
you to create your own network.
2. Open that computer's network settings window, such as the example shown in Figure
40, and assign the following:
• IP Address field:
• Subnet Mask field:
• Router field:
The IP address is therefore on the same network as the router/gateway, and the first
three octets of each are

For M8 Rev D1 and below, the fail safe IP address is 10.1.10.200, so in Steps 2 & 7 above, use subnet 10.1.10 instead of 192.168.1.
