Powering Down a Link Before Service

Before you repair or replace any parts of a link, use this procedure to power down
the link. The link between a server and an I/O boat in the External I/O Expansion
Unit includes these parts:
The server IOU slot that contains a link card
The link card in the IOU slot
The link card in the I/O boat
The link cable or cables that connect the two link cards
The I/O boat

The cfgadm -c disconnect Command

Power down the link by disconnecting the server IOU slot:
# cfgadm -c disconnect ap_id
Where ap_id is the server IOU slot that contains a link card.

Example of the cfgadm -c disconnect
Command
The following examples are for an External I/O Expansion Unit with one I/O boat
connected to a SPARC Enterprise M4000 server. In the examples,
ap_id for the server IOU slot to which the I/O boat is connected.
The following example shows the server IOU configuration while the I/O boat is still
connected. The I/O boat serial number is displayed (iobE02EF), as are the six PCI
slots in the I/O boat.
