Clean the platen

Clean the platen
Introduction
Clean the platen every few months, or when you see pollution on the platen or on the back of
your print.
Before you begin
Use Océ Colorado 1640 prescribed:
• Nitrile gloves for handling ink
• Lint free cloths
• Cleaning liquid (IPA)
Use a 1mm diameter pin.
NOTE
For information on the prescribed maintenance materials, see
maintenance materials on page
CAUTION
Wear the Océ Colorado 1640 prescribed nitrile gloves. You can only wear the gloves for ten
minutes. After ten minutes you must put on new gloves to prevent contact with the ink.
Procedure
1. Make sure the printer is not printing.
2. Put on the Océ Colorado 1640 approved nitrile gloves.
3. Open the top cover from the media input side.
4. If present, remove the media from the paper path. For more information, see
the paper path on page 212
5. Take a lint free cloth and clean the complete platen area. If necessary, you can clean the area
surrounding the maintenance station as well.
When there is a lot of ink on the platen first dab the area to avoid rubbing ink into the suction
holes. If necessary, take a new and clean cloth to wipe the area.
IMPORTANT
Do not clean outside the indicated area to avoid damaging the system.
IMPORTANT
Do not clean the transport rollers. When the rollers are polluted call your local service
representative.
