Cause
blunt knife/blade
knife/blade angle unfavorable clearance angle
insufficient clamping on specimen clamping
and/or knife/blade carrier
blunt knife/blade
specimen too warm
unfavorable clearance angle
cutting speed too high
cutting speed too high

insufficient clamping on specimen clamping
and/or knife/blade carrier
front end position has been reached
coarse feed motor is blocked
debris and section waste between microtome
and base plate
dirty link block
power cord not correctly connected
defective main fuse
emergency stop button is activated
foot pedal (optional) or interlock connector not
connected
mechanical hand wheel brake activated
Failure at linear potentiometer
Solution
move knife/blade or insert a new one
adjust knife/blade angle, until an optimal angle
can be found
check all screw and clamping connections on
specimen clamping and knife/blade carrier.
Tighten them, if necessary
move knife/blade or insert a new one
cool specimen
try clearance angle adjustments until an opti-
mal angle can be found
turn hand wheel slower or reduce the speed of
the cutting drive motor
turn hand wheel slower or reduce the speed of
the cutting drive motor
try clearance angle adjustments until an opti-
mal angle can be found
check all screw and clamping connections on
specimen clamping and knife/blade carrier.
Tighten them, if necessary
move specimen backwards with the course
feed motor
contact a service technician
remove section waste and clean microtome
contact a service technician
check power cord
check/replace the fuses in the
fuse box
deactivate the emergency stop button
connect foot pedal (optional) or interlock plug
deactivate the hand wheel brake by moving the
lever down
call service
