4. Administering the Cradle Using SNMP
Use of this interface should be restricted to expert administrative or repair personnel only.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a standard network protocol that runs over User
Datagram Protocol (UDP) and is a virtual information database.
Because SNMP functionality contains three primary elements--Management Information Bases
(MIBs), a Manager and an Agent--the user must be familiar with the specific SNMP Manager that is
located on the host computer of the network. The Manager's main role is to poll the Agents for the
specific requested information.
Figure 79 to Figure 81 illustrates a freeware tool called Getif 2.2 and demonstrates SNMP's for UDP
information.
