4-2-4. Sensor Problems

Symptoms
Head block is closed,
but the LCD shows
"Error Head Open".
(Head up sensor
problem)
Label on liner or
notch of tag is not
detected.
(Transparent sensor
problem)
Or
Paper end is not
detected.
Black mark on tag is
not detected.
(Reflective sensor
problem)
Or
Paper end is not
detected.
Checks
1. Is the connector of the "SA Head Up
SW" firmly connected to "SA Main PCB"
(J13)?
2. Does the protrusion of the head block
push the switch lever of the "SA Head
Up SW"?
3. Failure in the control circuit.
1. Is the "Media Sensor" menu setting
correct?
2. Are the "SA Adjust Sensor U" and the
"SA Adjust Sensor L" aligned with each
other?
3. Is the sensor adjustment performed
against media to be used?
4. Is the connector of the "SA Adjust
Sensor U" firmly connected to the "SA
Main PCB" (J8)?
5. Is the connector of the "SA Adjust
Sensor L" firmly connected to the "SA
Main PCB" (J7)?
6. Is dust on the light emitter of the "SA
Adjust Sensor L"?
7. Failure in the "SA Adjust Sensor U" or
"SA Adjust Sensor L".
8. Failure in the control circuit.
1. Is the "Media Sensor" menu correct?
2. Is the "SA Adjust Sensor L" correctly
aligned with the black mark?
3. Is the sensor adjustment performed
against media to be used?
4. Is the connector of the "SA Adjust
Sensor L" firmly connected to the "SA
Main PCB" (J7)?
1. Connect it firmly.
2. Replace the "SA Head Up SW".
3. Replace the "SA Main PCB".
1. Set it to "See Through".
2. Align their positions.
3. Perform the sensor adjustment for
user. Refer to "Sensor Adjustment
for user (Transparent Sensor/
Reflective Sensor)" on page 4-10.
4. Connect it firmly.
5. Connect it firmly.
6. Clean the light emitter to remove
dust.
7. Replace the "SA Adjust Sensor U"
or the "SA, Adjust Sensor L".
8. Replace the "SA Main PCB".
1. Set it to "Reflect".
2. Align it with the center part of the
black mark.
3. Perform the sensor adjustment for
user. Refer to "Sensor Adjustment
for user (Transparent Sensor/
Reflective Sensor)" on page 4-10.
4. Connect it firmly.
