Detecting U-shaped notches of tag:
For detecting U-shaped notches of tag, the same principle as for detecting label applies,
except that the light is directly falls on the phototransistor of the reflective sensor through a
notch.

(2) Detecting black marks on tag

For detecting black marks on tag, only reflective sensor is used and it needs to be aligned with
the mark.
* Media Sensor menu: Reflective
The light emitted from the light emitter of the reflective sensor is reflected by the tag (at other
than the black mark) and reaches the photodetector of the reflective sensor. At the black mark,
the light is not reflected. The CPU on the "SA Main PCB" detects the black mark by sensing the
output of the phototransistor. Also, media end is detected by monitoring the output.

(3) Detecting continuous media

For detecting continuous media, only the reflective sensor is used.
* Media Sensor menu: None
In this case, only media end is detected by the reflective sensor.

(4) Controlling the amount of light emitted from the light emitter

The amount of light emitted from the light emitter is well controlled according to the selected
sensor by the Media sensor menu ("See through" or "Reflective") for label, U-shaped notch,
black mark or continuous media.
