To install a PCI riser-card assembly, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on
page 116.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
Step 3.
Remove the cover (see "Removing the cover" on page 119).
Step 4.
Install the adapter in the new PCI riser-card assembly (see "Replacing an adapter" on page 178).
Step 5.
Set any jumpers or switches on the adapter as directed by the adapter manufacturer.
Step 6.
Remove the PCI filler panel, if one is present, from the rear of the server.
Step 7.
Align the PCI riser-card assembly with the PCI riser connector on the system board; then, press
down firmly until the PCI riser-card assembly is seated correctly in the connector on the system
board.
Note: When the rear 2.5-inch hot-swap-drive kit is used, only the PCI riser-card assembly with one
x8 or x16 low-profile slot can be used for connector 2 on the system board.
