– Check whether an earth cable is attached to the front passen‐
ger airbag housing:
♦ On a front passenger airbag with earth cable -1-, the wiring
harness -2- is three-conductor, an additional cable -3- is also
attached to the stud -4-.
♦ On a front passenger airbag without earth cable -5- the wiring
harness -6- is two-conductor, there is no additional cable at‐
tached to the stud -7-.
Routing an additional earth wire in the vehicle if the front passen‐
ger airbag does not have an earth cable
Note
For the following work use a cable (wire cross section 1 mm, length 600 mm) from the Wiring harness repair
set -VAS 1978- or Wiring harness repair set -VAS 1978A- .
– Secure one end of the earth cable with the bolt -1- on the right
hand side of the front passenger airbag.
– Fit the earth cable properly up to the right-hand side of the front
passenger footwell.
