Ground the Chassis
The frame ground lug can accommodate from 2 AWG to 6 AWG copper, stranded wire. When
connecting the frame ground, use a wire gauge that is at least as large a gauge as the power
connections (see Figure 2‐5).
To make the ground connection to the chassis, complete the following:
1. Ensure that the power is disconnected at the source.
2. Remove the connection hardware from both chassis ground bolts.
3. Clean the surface of the chassis grounding area and apply an appropriate antioxidant.
4. Strip the ground wire 5/8 of an inch and crimp the chassis ground lug to the wire.
5. Connect the ground wire to the chassis ground bolts.
6. Install the lock washers and hex nuts.
7. Torque the hex nuts to 24 inch/pounds.
8. Secure the other end of the ground wire to a suitable rack ground according to local
