Provisioning Steps
To create the map, complete the following:
1. From the Enable prompt, type configure terminal , and press E
2. From the Global Configuration prompt, type evc-map WORD , and press E
Configure the Map
The User to Network Interface (UNI) and the EVC must be configured for the map. A map
binds the UNI traffic to the EVC. To configure the map, complete the following:
1. From the EVC‐Map Configuration prompt, set the UNI by typing either connect uni
2. From the EVC‐Map Configuration prompt, connect the new map to the EVC by typing
3. In addition, the following attributes for the map can be set:

If the map was previously connected to an EVC, it will have to be reconnected
after the no connect discard command is used.

This attribute is an arbitrary string that is used to identify the map. The value must be
unique across all maps defined in the product and is intended for management and
control purposes. The value is not carried in any field in the Ethernet frame.

The WORD attribute is the physical interface connected to the customer equipment. The
possible options consist of the Ethernet port(s) and bonding group(s) available on the
NetVanta 800. In typical configurations, the specified option is an Ethernet port.

This attribute is the name of the EVC associated with the map and must be specified.
a. If desired, type match broadcast , match multicast , and/or match unicast .
To remove an attribute type no match broadcast , no match multicast , or no
match unicast

b. CE VLAN ID: This adds the customer edge VLAN ID to the match criteria of the
map. To set this value, type match ce-vlan-id <0-4094> . To remove this
attribute from the match criteria, type no match ce-vlan-id .
c. CE VLAN Priority: This adds the customer edge VLAN priority to the match
criteria of the map. To set this value, type match ce-vlan-pri <0-7> . To remove
this attribute from the match criteria, type no match ce-vlan-pri . A range of
values can be specified as part of this command.
d. Discard: If this value is set, the NetVanta discards all traffic that matches the maps
match criteria. To enable discarding traffic, type connect discard . To disable,
type no connect discard . This connection takes the place of the connection to
the EVC.
e. Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP): This adds the Internet Protocol DSCP of
the customer traffic to the match criteria of the map. To set this value, type match
