Tighten
the
adjusting nuts and recheck the
drive
chain slack. and
free wheel rotation,
Adjust the rear brake pedal free play
(page
3-10).
When the drive chain becomes extremely dirty,
it
should be re-
moved and cleaned prior to lubrication.
Remove the retaining clip. master
link
and drive chain.
Clean
the
drive chain with a non-flammable or high flash
point-
solvent.
Lubricate the drive
chain
with gear oil (SAE /lBO-90).
Inspect
the
sprocket
teeth for
excessive
wear
or
damage. Replace
jf
necessary.
NOTE
Never
install
a new drive chain on worn sprockets or a worn chain
on new sprockets. Both
chain
and sprockets must
be
in good
con-
dition, or the new replacement chain or sprockets will wear
rapidly.
Reinstall the drive
chain
with
the
master link clip closed end
fac·
ing
the direction of the
chains
travel.

Inspect
the
brake
shoes
and
brake
drum for
wear.

the arrow
on
the
indicator
plate
aligns
with the"

mark on
the
brake panel
when
the
brake is
applied.
