SUSPENSION
Inspect the sprocket teeth for excessive wear or damage.
Replace if necessary.
NOTE
Never install a new drive chain on worn sprockets or a worn chain
on new sprockets. Both chain and sprockets must be in good con
-
dition, or the new replacement chain or sprockets will wear
rapidly.
Turn the inner
race
of each bearing with your finger.
The
bear-
ings should turn smoothly and
quiet
ly. Also check that the
bear-
ing outer race fits
tightly
in the
hUb.
Remove and discard the bearings
if
the races
do not turn smooth-
Iy,
quietly, or if they fit loosely in the hub.
NOTE
Replace hub bearings in pairs.
BEARING
REPLA CEMENT
Insert the bearing remover head into the bearing.
From
the opposite side install the beating remover shaft and drive
the bearing out of
the
wheel.
Remove the distance collar and drive out the other bearing and
dust seal.

Pack the new bearing
cavit
ies with grease.
Drive a new left bearing in squarely with
the
sealed side facing out.
Install the distance collar into place.
NOTE
Be certain the distance collar is in position before installing
the
right bearing.
Drive a new right bearing in squarely with the sealed side facing
out.
Drive in a new dust seal.
