CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
After ' 91
Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise until the punch mark on
the cam sprocket aligns with cut-out on the cylinder head.
Remove the cam sprocket bolts and dowel pin.
Derail the cam chain and remove t he cam sprocket.
NOTE:
Suspend the cam chain with a piece of wire to prevent the
chain from falling into the crankcase.
' 88-'91
Remove the camshaft .
After '9 1
Remove the valve
adjusters fuly .
adjuster covers and loosen the valve
Temporarily screw the cam sprocket bolts into the camshaft
and
pu.
out t he camshaft while holding the rocker arms.
NOTE :
Cylinder head can
be
removed with the camshaft installed
on the cylinder head. Refer to the page 7-2 for removal.
Remove the nuts, washers, and cylinder head cover.
Remove the tappet hole caps.
