Chapter 3. System Features
This feature does not require the use of a DSS/72 console or entering the programming mode.

Extension Name Assignments

Extension names can be up to 10 characters in length. (Assignment of extension names must be
allowed in the Extension Class of Service [COS].)
Operation
To set extension names using a large-display or small-display phone:
1. Lift the handset or press the ON/OFF key.
2. Press the PROG key.
3. Press the * key.
4. Enter 2 for the Extension Name Assignment mode.
5. Enter the extension number.
6. Press the HOLD key.
7. Press the FLASH key to clear the existing data.
8. Enter the extension name:
• If using a large-display phone, press the soft key next
to the desired row of letters. (See Example 1 on page
3-41.)
• If using a small-display phone press the appropriate
one-touch key. (See Example 2 on page 3-42.)
9. Use the bottom row of FF keys to select a single letter.
• See "Example 1. Large-Display Phone" on page 3-41.
• See "Example 2. Small-Display Phone" on page 3-42.
Notes:
• Press the * key to erase a single entry.
• Press the # key to enter a space.
10. Repeat steps 7-8 as many times as necessary to enter the
desired extension name.
Note: Press the FLASH key to clear the entire entry.
11. Press the HOLD key when finished.
12. To enter another extension name, press the CONF key and
repeat steps 5-11.
