14.2 Functions

1) Exit sensor
The exit sensor detects if the leading or trailing edge of the paper has reached to the exit roller. This
sensor is also used for the detection of a paper jam in the fuser unit and paper exit section, and the
detection of the trailing edge of the reversed paper at duplex printing as well.
2) Exit motor
The exit motor is a stepping motor which drives the exit roller. This motor rotates reversely to switch-
back the exit roller when the paper is transported to the ADU.
In this equipment, the transport speed in the ADU is about three times as fast as that of print pro-
cessing to enhance the productivity of duplex printing. For that purpose, the transport speed starts
increasing when the trailing edge of the paper has passed the fuser roller in the fuser unit.
3) Exit roller
The exit roller transports the paper from the fuser unit to the inner tray, paper exit options or ADU.
This roller is driven by the exit motor.
