Document feed error

[ 1 ] Documents do not feed
Step

Is the actuator of the document sensor dam-
aged?

Select SENSOR TEST in the test mode. (Refer
to
P.11-19 "[ 5 ] SENSOR TEST [MENU], [9],
[4], [05]".)
Open the operation panel.
When the document sensor is turned ON, is the
Bit 4 changed?

Is the cable firmly connected between the opera-
tion panel and the main PBA (CN4)?

Is the cable of the TX motor firmly connected to
the main PBA (CN6)?

Does the connector pin come off or is the cable
broken?

Open the operation panel. Turn ON the docu-
ment sensor to see if the ADF roller and TX drive
roller operate properly.

If no problem is found in the steps above, the TX
motor or main PBA may be defective.

Were the documents pressed into the ADF too
strongly when loaded?

Are the document sheets hard to separate due to

Does the document paper thickness satisfy the

automatic feeding exceed the limit (30 pages)?

Is the machine located in an area with extreme
temperature and humidity? (Refer to
"2.10 Operating Environmental Condition".)

Is any surface of the ADF pad, ADF roller, TX
drive rollers, pinch roller dirty or worn out?

Replace the operation panel.
When the bit changes correctly, go to step 4.
Insert the cable to the connector firmly.

Use the machine under good environmental condi-

Wipe it off with soft dry cloth. If very dirty, soak the
cloth with water and squeeze it well, then use it for
wiping the dirt off.

Adjust the document guide to the document width.
Clean the document feed path.
