Remove rear wheel (

[Without Integral ABS] Remove inductive signal
transmitter (
61.15).

Remove brake caliper and fasten to the rear
frame using a cable tie (
Remove rear wheel drive unit (
Loosen the right rear footrest plate.

Important:
Note high loosening torque at lock ring and left/right
threaded rings and bearing studs.
Remove circlip (1) and use socket wrench adapt-
er, BMW No. 33 6 643, to unscrew the right
threaded ring (6).
Remove circlip (1) and loosen lock ring (2)

Important:
Note high loosening torque for lock ring and for the
threaded rings and the bearing studs on left and
right.
Loosen the left threaded ring (3) with socket
wrench insert, BMW No. 33 6 641.
Loosen bearing studs (5) at left and right.
Remove fastener (7) for shock absorber and
press the shock absorber upwards.
Remove left and right bearing studs (5).
Pull swinging arm (8) away from drive shaft.
