Removing the driver bearing

Remove thrust plate (1).
Take off cup spring (2).
Remove ball bearing (3) with puller,
BMW No. 00 8 570, and internal puller 21/3,
BMW No. 00 8 574.
Remove snap ring (4).

Installing driver bearing

Install the snap ring (4).

Note:
Use temperature measuring device,
BMW No. 00 1 900, to check heat rise.
Heat the intermediate flange at the bearing seat
to approx. 120 °C (248 °F).
Press the ball bearing on as far as the snap ring.

Insert the cup spring with the larger diameter fac-
ing the bearing.
Install the thrust plate with the large cutout at the
top.
X
Tightening torque:
Thrust plate to intermediate flange
(clean thread + apply Loctite 243) .................. 9 Nm
