Note:
For supporting the frame with front-wheel guide for
the following tasks:
Gearbox removal
Engine removal

Remove rear swinging arm.
Remove universal shaft.
Remove transverse tube (
Secure frame support, BMW No. 46 5 660, to
the mounting points (1) for the transverse tube.
Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure.

The right and left threaded bushes are not identical.

Always wear protective gloves when handling heat-
ed parts in order to avoid burns.

When applying heat, always take care not to dam-
age cables and lines and rubber and plastic compo-
nents.

Removing/installing right and left
Note:
Remove rear swinging arm (
Warning:
Important:

Using a hot-air gun, heat the frame to approx.
100 °C (212 °F).
Use BMW refrigerant spray to chill the threaded
bush.
Drive out the threaded bush using handle for
drift, BMW No. 00 5 500 and drift,
BMW No. 46 5 735.
Clean the seat in the frame.
