Installing gearbox

•
Insert gearbox into intermediate flange and push
on to reamed sleeves.

Note:
One screw (6) also secures the heat shield.
•
Tighten the six screws (6) holding the gearbox to
the intermediate flange.
•
Install starter motor (7) with wiring.
•
Install heat shield with fasteners (4,5).
•
Insert clutch pushrod (3) into gearbox, noting
correct installed position.
•
Secure cable for side stand switch to gearbox
with cable tie (arrow).

Important:
The alignment of the left-hand rubber mounts rela-
tive to the frame is preset at the factory; do not
slacken the securing screws.
The rubber mounts do not have to be re-aligned un-
less the left-hand rubber mount has been replaced.
•
Slightly lower the frame.
•
Tighten screw (2) holding gearbox to frame.

Note:
When lowering the frame, make sure that clearance
is adequate on the right between frame and gear-
box: do not scratch the surfaces.
•
Tighten screw (2) holding gearbox to frame.
•
Screw the left/right engine mountings to the
cross-member.

Note:
Reinstall the main (centre) stand, if it was removed
beforehand ( 46.20).

– Lower the frame ( 46.31).
