Remote Maintenance by telnet

You can view the printer status and configure the Network Interface Board us-
ing telnet.
Note
❒ You should specify a password so that only the network administrator, or a
person having network administrator privileges, can use remote mainte-
nance.

Using telnet

The following is a sample procedure in using telnet.
Limitation
❒ Only one person at a time can be logged on to do remote maintenance.
A
Using the IP address or host name of the printer, start telnet.
% telnet IP_address
Note
❒ In order to use the host name instead of the IP address, you must write it
to the /etc/hosts file.

Type the password.
Note
❒ The factory default is "password".

Type a command.

Exit telnet.
msh> logout
When the configuration is changed, a confirmation message requests whether
or not the changes should be saved.
E
Type "yes" to save the changes, and press the { { { { ENTER} } } } key.
If you do not want to save the changes, type "no"and press the {ENTER} key.
If you want to make additional changes, type "return" at the command line,
and press the {ENTER} key.
