Troubleshooting Remote Connections

Error
• Cannot connect to the
DVR on a local network
• Cannot connect to the
DVR over the Internet
• Cannot connect to the
DVR using a mobile device

Possible Causes
• DVR not connected to router
• DVR and computer not on same
network
• Ports not forwarded
• DDNS account not created
• DDNS not enabled on DVR
• DDNS address not entered
correctly
• DVR has not been configured
for Internet connection
• IP address used from outside
internal network
• Router is blocking DDNS
connection from internal network
• From the Main Menu, click
Setup>Recording>Alarm. Select Off under Buzzer
for channels with motion detection enabled
• Ensure you have configured email notification. See
"Enabling Email Notifications" on page 52.
Solutions
• Connect an Ethernet cable from the DVR Ethernet
port to your router, and then reset the DVR by
disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable
• Ensure your DVR and computer are connected to
the same router
• If your computer is using a WiFi network, try
connecting it to the router using an Ethernet cable
• Port Forward the Web port (default: 80) and Client
Port (default: 3000) on your router. For details on
port forwarding, see the Easy Connect manual on
CD or the reference guides on
www.lorextechnology.com
• Follow the instructions under "Step 2 of 4: Create
a DDNS Account" on page 86
• Follow the instructions under "Step 3 of 4: Return
to the DVR and Enable DDNS" on page 90
• In Internet Explorer, enter http://, the Domain
name/URL Request from the confirmation email,
followed by .lorexddns.net, then colon, and the Web
port (for example, 
http://tomsmith.lorexddns.net:80
• Ensure you have followed all the steps in "Setting
up your DVR for Remote Connectivity" on page 81.
