Nautica Configuration Wizard Reference Guide
Parameter:

Support
Rip1 Compat (Single Host addressing and Standard
Routing), None (Cul-de-sac Routing)
Rip1 Compat, Rip1, Rip2, Rip1 Subnet, None
This is the type of IP support used on this path
The options for this parameter are as follows:
Rip1 Compat: RIP2 packets are broadcast. This
option is the RIP1 Compatibility option as specified
in RFC 1723 and is most likely to work with older
RIP1 implementations where the new RIP2 features,
like subnet masking, may be useful.
Rip1: RIP Version 1 packets are broadcast as per
RFC 1508.
Rip2: RIP Version 2 packets are multicast to
224.0.0.9 as per RFC 1723.
Rip1 Subnet: This is a modified version of RIP1
mode which allows Nautica routers to work in
networks where RIP1 must be used due to an
installed base of older routers. RIP1 packets are
broadcast, but when network routes are learnt via
RIP, the Nautica router applies a subnet mask as
follows:
If the route is within the same "natural" network as
the current router, the subnet mask of the LAN01
interface is used; otherwise the "natural" subnet
mask is applied to the route. This allows correct
operation of a router in a subnetted environment
where RIP1 is used.
None: Selecting this value will turn RIP support off.
The unit will not send or receive RIP.
