When authentication is negotiated, if one option is rejected by
the remote unit, the other option is be used instead.

With this parameter selected, PAP authentication will be
negotiated as part of the initial call security. With PAP
enabled, the PAP passwords set up on the individual
paths will be used to allow or disallow a call.

8-23.
CHAP Enable

To enable or disable CHAP authentication
With this parameter selected, CHAP authentication will
be negotiated as part of the initial call security. With
CHAP enabled, the CHAP passwords set up on the
individual paths will be used to allow or disallow a call.

If you are unsure as to whether the remote units support

This parameter allows you to specify on which type of
calls PAP/CHAP authentication is to take place.
Select an option:
None: No authentication is presented or requested
by the unit.
