4.3 GIA 63/63W
Original GIA 63/63W(s) Reinstalled
No software or configuration loading is required if the removed GIA is reinstalled in its original position (GIA1
and GIA2 in their original racks). This does not include units that were returned for repair as their software and
configuration files are deleted during the repair testing process.
Continue to Section 4.3.5.
Original GIA 63/63W(s) Installed in Opposite Locations for Troubleshooting
No software loading is required if the original GIA units are installed in opposite locations (GIA1 and GIA2 in
opposite unit racks). However, the units must be reconfigured.
For installations with GDU software version 6.01 (BP 2006) and earlier, continue to Section 4.3.4.
For installations with GDU software version 7.01 (BP 2007) and later, continue to Section 4.3.5.
New, Repaired, or Exchange GIA 63/63W(s) Installed
If a new, repaired, or exchange GIA 63/GIA 63Wis installed, verify correct software version on the SYSTEM
STATUS page (for both main and GPS).
If the correct software version is not installed:
For installations with GDU software version 6.01 (BP 2006) and earlier, continue to Section 4.3.1.
For installations with GDU software version 7.01 (BP 2007) and later, continue to Section 4.3.5.
If the correct software version is installed:
For installation with GDU software version 6.01 (BP 2006) and earlier, continue to Section 4.3.3.
For installations with GDU software version 7.01 (BP 2007) and later, continue to Section 4.3.5.
Loading the wrong software into GIA63/63W units may cause an inoperable condition that
is not covered by warranty. Reference Figures 4-2, 4-3, and 4-4 to identify which type of GIA
63 (WAAS or Non-WAAS) is installed in the aircraft, and how to choose the correct WAAS or
Non-WAAS software file.
