3. Measure:
-Wheel runout
Out of specification--+lnspect the wheel and
bearing play.
Rim Runout Limits:
Radial
CD:
1.0 mm (0.04 in).
Lateral
@:
0.5 mm (0.02 in)
4., Inspect:
-Wheel bearings
Bearings allow play in the wheel hub or
wheel turns roughly--+ Replace.

Lateral free play
~ Radial free play
Wheel bearing replacement steps:
- Remove the dust seal.
- Clean the out side of the wheel hub.
- Remove the bearing

using a general bear-
ing puller

-Install the new bearing.
NOTE: _
Use a socket
®
that matches the outside di-
ameter of the race of the bearing.

Do not strike the inner race of balls of the
bearing. Contact should be made only
with the outer race.
-Install the dust seal.

5. Check:
- Loose spokes
Turn the wheel and tap the spokes with a
screwdriver.
. NOTE:. _
A tight spoke will emit a clear, ringing tone, a
loose spoke will sound flat.
