Response Codes
The PROFIBUS DP Rd_Inp service allows a PROFIBUS Master Unit to read
the current input data of any slave device, even if it is not allocated to the Mas-
ter Unit.
The figures below show the command and response message formats.

Destination Address (Command, Response)
The address of the device on the PROFIBUS network, to which the PROFI-
BUS message will be sent. The valid address range is 0 to 7E (Hex). The
most significant byte in the Response Format is set to 00.
Device Service Access Point (Command)
The Device Service Access Point for the Rd_Inp PROFIBUS service must be
set to 38 (Hex).
Data length (Bytes) (Response)
This parameter defines the number of Input data bytes returned by the slave
device. The number ranges from 0 to 244 bytes. The most significant byte is
set to 00.
Input data (Response)
Input data returned by the slave device.
Response code
0000 Normal completion
1001 Command too large, i.e. > 2 words
1002 Command too short, i.e. < 2 words.
110C Device Address Invalid, i.e. > 7E (Hex)
2208 PROFIBUS Master unit not in correct mode, i.e. it is in
OFFLINE mode.
0001 • The slave has deactivated this service.
• The slave has not responded to the request.
• The slave does not have sufficient memory space for the re-
quest data.
• Destination address is same as current master address.
0402 Service is not supported: Device Service Access Point is
invalid.
