Updating the firmware of the IM151-3 PN
Properties
• As of STEP 7 V5.3, ServicePack 1, you can update the firmware of the
IM151-3 PN.
• To update the firmware you receive files (*.UPD) with the current firmware.
Procedure
Update the firmware as follows:

Proceed as follows:
Upload update files with STEP 7
and your programming device to
an empty MMC (≥ 2 MB).
Switch off power to the IM151-3
PN and insert the MMC with the
FW update.
Switch on power.
Switch off power to the IM151-3
PN and remove the MMC with the
FW update.
Insert the MMC with the device
name and switch on the voltage
supply again.
The following happens in the
IM131-3 PN:

The IM151-3 PN automatically
detects the MMC with the FW
update and starts the FW update
process.
During the FW update the SF and
BF LEDs are in and the ON LED
is off.
On completion of the FW update
the BF LED flashes at a rate of 0.5
Hz.

The IM151-3 PN starts up with the
new firmware and is then ready for
operation.
